Join award-winning photographers Steve Smith and Leah Gray for a weekend of photographic discovery. Come with us to experiment with old and newly learned techniques in three different local outdoor locations. On Saturday morning, we will explore Reay Creek, near Greenglade Community Centre. Here we will get our gear sorted out and each photographer will begin to develop their own photographic identity. We will meet for lunch (each paying our own way). The Saturday evening shoot will be in the town of Sidney. We will use the last light of the day plus the following blue hour to create impactful images. Subjects will include sea birds, shorelines, people and architecture. We will also have the opportunity for exploring long exposures and the use of neutral density filters (bring your ND filters). Sunday morning will find us at Cattle point in Oak Bay before sunrise. The rocky shoreline, ocean vistas and the adjacent Uplands Park will be our canvas. Shore line rocks and pools, seabirds, ocean vistas, woodland flowers and intimate landscapes will be subjects. We will meet back at Greenglade Community Centre to compare notes, download our images and do some editing. We will give you a constructive review of your chosen images. Your two instructors will be able to assist you every step of the way. Bring your computer for this session. This workshop will be limited to 8 participants. Meeting times and locations may vary. A detailed plan will be provided before the class.
